Cabinet Boosts Fertilizer Subsidy: ₹372.16 Billion Approved to Support Farmers

In a major step to support India's farm sector, the Union Cabinet has sanctioned an extra ₹372.16 billion for fertilizer subsidies. The move, as announced by the Information Minister, is to provide cheap access to necessary nutrients for farmers nationwide. The additional allocation is over and above the ₹1.67 trillion already allocated for fertilizer subsidies in the 2025-26 budget. This rise responds to the government's resolve to enhance food security and farming productivity in the face of volatile global commodity prices. The action will ensure stabilization of fertilizer prices for farmers, with the possibility of increased crop yields and farmer incomes during the subsequent farming seasons.
