Iran has officially announced that Muscat, Oman, will be the venue for the second round of nuclear negotiations with the United States later this week, after a successful first round on April 12. The Oman-mediated talks remain indirect, with both sides—led by Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff—only negotiating Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of U.S. sanctions. Iran's Foreign Ministry described opening talks as "positive and constructive," with both nations agreeing to return to Muscat on Saturday. Terms of central Iranian conditions include guarantees for sanctions relief, access to frozen funds, and an end to the maximum pressure campaign against it by the U.S. Although Iran signaled a willingness to reduce enrichment of uranium to 2015 JCPOA levels, it won't dismantle its nuclear program.
