Apple announced it has reduced greenhouse emissions worldwide by over 60% since 2015, marking a major milestone towards its ambitious goal of being carbon neutral by 2030. The company's 2025 Environmental Progress Report highlights significant milestones, including utilizing 99% recycled rare earth elements in all magnets and 99% recycled cobalt in Apple-designed batteries.
Apple's supply chain runs on 17.8 gigawatts of renewable electricity, stopping 21.8 million metric tons of emissions in 2024 alone. Additionally, 26 semiconductor and all display suppliers have signed on to remove 90% of potent fluorinated greenhouse gases by 2030. Apple's initiatives also include water savings, waste minimization, and nature-based carbon sequestration projects.
Lisa Jackson, Apple's Vice President of Environment, stated that the company is facing challenges with innovation and speed in its progress towards its 2030 goal.
