The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) turned into a hub of futuristic engineering as students showcased hyperloop transport pods, solar-powered race cars, and autonomous maritime platforms at Delta Expo 2026. The two-day event highlighted over 45 student innovation teams and 30 early-stage startups, redefining India’s innovation landscape.

Innovation Expo At IIT-M

Delta Expo 2026, IIT-M’s flagship innovation and startup exhibition, was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in the presence of IIT-M Director V. Kamakoti. Organized by the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the expo transformed the campus into a live laboratory of cutting-edge prototypes and disruptive ideas.

Hyperloop Pods Take Center Stage

Among the standout innovations was the hyperloop pod, designed to revolutionize ultra-fast, sustainable transport. Students demonstrated how vacuum tube technology could enable high-speed travel with minimal energy consumption. Solar Cars And Green Mobility

Equally impressive was the solar-powered race car, built by student teams to showcase clean energy applications in motorsport. Over 30 startups from IIT-M’s Nirmaan pre-incubation program presented prototypes ranging from healthcare devices to smart energy systems.
