India's creator economy is booming its way towards a ₹10,000 crore milestone in 2030 but has a gargantuan ₹2,400 crore hitch in its way. The creators economy accounted for by experts so far is a paltry ₹7,200 crores, while the balance siphons off through uncontrolled avenues, inefficiency, and reporting mismatch. India's creator economy working from the predominantly informal unorganised sector-led by freelance creators and loose-runners-is huge sources of unmappable revenues where neither contracts nor norms of rulemaking prevail.". As a result, the majority of creators do not monetize: only 8–10% of India's 2–2.5 million active creators earn substantially, with the majority earning less than ₹18,000 a month.

Platforms and brands are now focusing on plugging these gaps so that growth is sustainable, transparent, and decently rewarded. Until these inefficiencies get sorted, India's rapidly growing creator economy will underpay and undervalue the majority of its talent-and revenue.
