In recognition of their stellar performances and key roles in India’s victorious ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 campaign, Indian Railways has granted out-of-turn promotions to Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana, and Renuka Singh Thakur, elevating them to the Group B Officer-grade post of Officer on Special Duty (Sports).
The Ministry of Railways has officially sanctioned an out-of-turn promotion for three Indian women cricketers—Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana, and Renuka Singh Thakur—as officers on special duty (OSD) in the Group B Gazetted category. This decision acknowledges their invaluable contributions to India’s historic win at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.
These promotions carry the pay and benefits of Group B Gazetted Officers under Level 8 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) pay matrix, providing financial security and new administrative responsibilities. All three players, previously serving in various clerical roles within Northern Railway, have now been entrusted with roles that reflect their exceptional sporting achievements and leadership potential.
The trio was felicitated earlier in November 2025 at the Rail Bhawan by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, who praised their outstanding performance on the international stage. Notably, Pratika Rawal, a dependable opening batter from Delhi, made significant contributions before suffering an injury during the tournament. Sneh Rana, a talented all-rounder, and Renuka Singh, a consistent right-arm medium-fast bowler, were equally pivotal in key matches.
The Railway Sports Promotion Board’s initiative aligns with Indian Railways’ long-standing tradition of supporting and rewarding its athlete-employees who bring pride to the nation through sporting excellence.
