Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has claimed that Indian farmers are moving step by step towards prosperity, crediting a rise in innovation, technology adoption, and supportive government policies. Chouhan emphasized the government's concern for increasing farmers' incomes, citing a 25% rise in wheat production over the past decade and India's position as the world's second-largest wheat producer. He stressed the importance of connecting farmers to scientific research, introducing climate-resilient crops, and promoting sustainable, organic, and natural farming systems. Chouhan also mentioned new schemes like digital agriculture, drone farming, and cluster farming, which are increasing productivity and market opportunities for marginal and small farmers. Once again, he highlighted that agriculture remains the economic backbone of India and the fulcrum of rural prosperity, as envisaged by the government for an advanced, self-reliant India in 2047.
