The Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo has directed a strategic acceleration of credit linkage efforts under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme to empower artisans in Jammu & Kashmir. The push targets 30,000 credit linkages by March 2026, aiming to bridge credit gaps, streamline bank procedures, and promote financial inclusion for traditional craftsmen.
In a high-level review meeting, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo emphasized that stronger credit linkage is central to the successful implementation of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. He urged banks and departments to expedite disbursal processes, ensuring timely access to financial assistance for artisans.
The scheme focuses on modernizing artisan tools, skill training, and capacity building, with credit support enabling artisans, especially in rural and marginalized areas, to scale their trades and improve productivity. The CS set an ambitious target of 30,000 credit linkages by March 2026 to ensure saturation of scheme benefits.
To address bottlenecks such as loan hesitancy and financial literacy gaps, a targeted intervention plan involving district-wise beneficiary mapping and on-the-spot loan camps has been initiated. These efforts focus on boosting awareness, simplifying loan procedures, and building beneficiary confidence.
Jammu and Kashmir currently leads Union Territories in PM Vishwakarma registrations, with significant progress in loan sanctions and disbursements. Integration with the YUVA Mission will further enhance entrepreneurship support and increase loan sizes for eligible artisans.
