Aravind Srinivas, the Indian-origin CEO of Perplexity AI, has thrown down the gauntlet to Elon Musk amid the USAID shutdown drama. Srinivas, an IIT-Madras alumnus with a PhD from UC Berkeley, co-founded Perplexity AI in 2022. The AI-powered search engine is backed by prominent investors, including Jeff Bezos. Srinivas' tweet, "Considering raising $500B from USAID. Funding secured. Stop me if you can @elonmusk," came after Musk called USAID a "criminal organisation." This bold move highlights the shifting dynamics in Silicon Valley's engagement with political issues and government policies.
