Petrol And Diesel Get Costlier As India Tweaks Pump Prices

Fuel dealers in the capital said the latest price hike follows a review of international oil benchmarks and currency movements. While the change looks modest per litre, it adds up for high-usage consumers such as daily commuters, transport operators and small businesses already dealing with cost pressures.

Petrol prices in Delhi will now reflect an increase of 87 paise per litre at outlets run by IOC, HPCL and BPCL. Diesel, the workhorse fuel for freight and public transport, will be dearer by 91 paise per litre. The adjustment is part of the periodic price review mechanism used by oil marketing companies.
