Paytm has rolled out “Pocket Money”, a new feature aimed at helping teens and young adults manage small, regular allowances in a fully digital way. The product lets parents or guardians load money into a controlled wallet while giving youngsters a safe sandbox to learn payments, budgeting and responsible spending inside the Paytm ecosystem.

The launch taps into India’s booming digital payments culture, where UPI and wallets are already default for everyday spends. Pocket Money tries to sit at the intersection of fintech, parenting and financial literacy by giving families a structured way to move pocket cash away from physical notes to a traceable, rule based format.

How Paytm Pocket Money Works

Pocket Money is positioned as a dedicated allowance layer within Paytm, funded by parents and usable by children for everyday digital transactions like mobile recharges, small online purchases and QR based payments at neighbourhood stores. Limits, recharge frequency and usage rules can be set by the funding adult.

The idea is to combine convenience with control. Instead of handing out loose cash, parents can channel a fixed monthly or weekly amount into the Pocket Money balance, track where it goes and gradually expand limits as trust builds. For Paytm, it nurtures digital habits early and locks in future users.
