International Aerospace Manufacturing Pvt Ltd (IAMPL), the 50:50 joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, has inaugurated an expanded 12-acre aerospace manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The upgraded site significantly boosts capacity for high-precision compressor and turbine components and deepens India’s role in Rolls-Royce’s global jet engine supply chain.
Hosur is fast emerging as a key node in India’s aerospace map. With the latest expansion, IAMPL aims to support both civil and defence programmes worldwide, while aligning with New Delhi’s “Make in India” and indigenisation goals in engine and component manufacturing. Senior leadership from Rolls-Royce India and HAL jointly opened the facility.
What The New Hosur Facility Adds
Spread across 12 acres, the expanded Hosur unit will ramp up production of world-class compressor and turbine components, and build capabilities for complex rotating parts for future engine platforms.
The facility is designed as a state-of-the-art hub with advanced machining, special processes and quality systems, strengthening IAMPL’s position in Rolls-Royce’s high-performing global supplier group.
Make In India, For The World
Rolls-Royce India Executive Vice President Sashi Mukundan called the expansion “an example of sustained efforts to create a strong, resilient aerospace and defence ecosystem in the country” and reiterated the goal of treating India as a strategic “home market” for future sourcing and programmes.
HAL Chairman and Managing Director Ravi K. said the JV strengthens indigenous capability at a time when India is pushing for deeper localisation in defence and engine manufacturing.
IAMPL’s Journey So Far
Since 2012, IAMPL has supplied high-precision machined and special-processed parts for advanced jet engines from its Bengaluru facility, including complex parts for the Trent family of engines.
The first phase of the Hosur footprint came in 2024; the latest expansion diversifies the JV’s portfolio to support both civil and military aerospace customers and other leading engine makers.
Cluster Effects And Local Impact
Tamil Nadu is positioning Hosur as an aerospace and defence manufacturing hub, leveraging its proximity to Bengaluru’s engineering talent and strong industrial infrastructure.
The IAMPL expansion is expected to create high-skill jobs, deepen the regional supplier ecosystem and reinforce India’s standing in global aviation supply chains.
