Suvendu Adhikari’s Personal Assistant Shot Dead In Madhyamgram

The killing of Suvendu Adhikari’s aide has shocked Bengal’s political circles. Rath, a key figure in Adhikari’s campaigns, was attacked while traveling in a car near Kolkata. Police have launched an investigation, while BJP leaders allege rival political involvement.  

Details Of The Incident  

Motorcycle-borne assailants intercepted Rath’s vehicle near Doharia in Madhyamgram and fired multiple rounds at close range. Rath succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while his associate Buddhadeb Bera remains in critical condition.  

Political Fallout  

The BJP has accused Trinamool Congress-backed groups of orchestrating the attack, intensifying the blame game. The killing comes just two days after the BJP secured 207 seats in the West Bengal Assembly elections, ending TMC’s dominance. Senior BJP leaders, including Adhikari, visited the hospital and crime scene.  

Police Investigation  

West Bengal Police have tightened security in the area and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers. Preliminary reports suggest the assailants tampered with vehicle number plates before fleeing. No arrests have been made yet.
