US Delegation On Way To New Delhi

According to government briefings, a high level US team is likely to land in India next month to continue negotiations on an interim trade agreement and broader economic cooperation. The visit builds on April level talks in Washington and is seen as a step towards finalising a deal around March next year.

Rupee Slide Under Watch, Not Panic

With the rupee having logged its steepest annual fall in three years and briefly breaching key psychological levels, officials say the government and the Reserve Bank of India are monitoring volatility and have “several steps under consideration.” Recent reporting suggests the central bank is prepared to tolerate some weakness while stepping in mainly to curb speculative excess.

No Clampdown On Non Essential Imports
