The UK economy grew 0.6% quarter on quarter in Q1, triple the 0.2% pace seen in Q4 and exactly in line with the Reuters poll consensus of 0.6%. The upside surprise versus previous quarters signals a tentative exit from stagnation, easing immediate recession fears and supporting a more constructive outlook on UK assets.
