Winter Warm-Up: Kolkata's Chill to Ease as Temperatures Rise with Western Disturbance

Kolkata is getting a short break from the chill of its winter as the minimum temperature shot up from 12.3°C on Saturday to 14.2°C on Sunday. The reason behind this rise in minimum temperature is the Western Disturbance over Punjab, which has been disrupting the flow of cold northwesterly winds into the region. The minimum temperature is likely to increase further to about 15°C by Tuesday. The chill would be absent for the next two to three days until the disturbance recedes. Residents may also experience shallow fog during early mornings.
