A Symbol of Friendship: Mauritius Conferes Its Highest Honour on PM Modi During Historic Visit

The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, extended a warm welcome to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day state visit to the island. In a community gathering of more than 3,500 people, Ramgoolam underscored the crucial contribution of Indian investors to the economic development of Mauritius. He pointed out the role of the Indian diaspora in the construction, tourism, healthcare, hospitality, and financial services sectors, pointing out even greater Indian investment opportunities in Mauritius.

 

Underlining historical links between India and Mauritius, Ramgoolam conferred PM Modi with Mauritius's highest civilian honor, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean. In Port Louis, during an event for the Indian community, Ramgoolam praised Modi, saying, "When you come here, you enrich our country as well." Modi thanked Ramgoolam and stated that it is a tribute to the eternal India-Mauritius partnership.
