Adani Group Firmly Denies Sri Lanka Wind Power Project Cancellation Amid Tariff Review

The Adani Group has strongly refuted reports claiming the cancellation of its 484-megawatt wind power projects in Sri Lanka's Mannar and Pooneryn districts. While the Sri Lankan Cabinet initiated a tariff reevaluation on January 2, 2025, for the previously approved rate of $0.0826 per kilowatt, the company maintains this is merely a standard review process under the new government. The projects, representing a $1 billion investment commitment in Sri Lanka's green energy sector, remain active despite facing environmental challenges in the Supreme Court. The clarification comes amid speculation following President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's administration's decision to reassess energy policies.
