Andhra’s Healthcare Revolution: ‘Mee Intiki — Mee Doctor’ Delivers Primary Care At Home

The project was unveiled in Vijayawada during World Red Cross Day and World Thalassemia Day celebrations. It represents a collaborative effort between the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Andhra Pradesh State Branch, and the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Limited under its CSR programme.

Project Scope

The initiative will deploy Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) staffed with doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and drivers to visit villages regularly. These teams will provide free medicines, consultations, and preventive care, focusing on underserved communities such as SC/ST localities and rural poor households.

Target Beneficiaries

The project will prioritize pregnant women, children aged 0–6 years, bedridden patients, elderly individuals, and those suffering from communicable diseases like tuberculosis, dengue, and malaria. Each MMU is expected to serve around 100 patients per day, covering nearly 14,000 beneficiaries monthly across seven districts.

Long-Term Goals

The program aims to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates, improve immunization coverage, and strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery. Over three years, it is projected to benefit six lakh individuals, significantly improving access to healthcare in remote areas.
