The 2.0 MTPA Bhojudih coal washery has officially moved into commercial operation, marking a key capacity addition in BCCL’s beneficiation portfolio. By washing raw coal, the plant will help reduce ash content, improve calorific value and make coking coal more suitable for end-use industries, particularly steelmakers.

With this washery going live, BCCL can supply higher-quality coal that improves combustion efficiency and reduces handling and transport costs per unit of energy. The move also aligns with the government’s efforts to modernise coal preparation infrastructure, reduce wastage, and optimise resource utilisation across coal-bearing regions.
