California Inferno: Hughes Fire Forces Mass Evacuations in Los Angeles County
A raging mountain wildfire, named the Hughes Fire, is devouring about 39 square kilometers (9,400 acres) in the mountains north of Los Angeles. The fire had already forced evacuation orders for more than 50,000 residents Thursday as it spread amid strong winds and dry conditions, posing an immediate threat to life. Firefighters are working to put out the fire, but containment stands at zero percent due to the winds expected to escalate. Authorities request people to leave quickly to secure their safety.
