Delhi To Bihar Brace For Rain, Rajasthan And Gujarat Face Scorching Heatwave

The IMD has issued multiple alerts across northern and western India. While parts of Delhi, UP, and Bihar will see relief from soaring temperatures due to rain and thunderstorms, Rajasthan and Gujarat are expected to face intense heatwave conditions.

Rainfall In North India

A western disturbance is set to impact the western Himalayan region from May 10–11. Delhi will experience light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds up to 50 kmph. Similar conditions are expected in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, with scattered showers and thundersqualls likely to disrupt travel and agriculture. 

Heatwave In Western India

The IMD has warned of severe heatwave conditions in Rajasthan and Gujarat, particularly in Saurashtra, Kutch, and West Rajasthan, where daytime temperatures may exceed 45°C. Hot winds are also expected in western Madhya Pradesh around May 12–13. Residents are advised to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure and stay hydrated. 

Eastern And Southern States

Eastern states including Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal will see thunderstorms and rain, while southern states such as Kerala and Tamil Nadu continue to experience strong pre-monsoon activity. Meteorologists confirm that the southwest monsoon is on track to arrive in Kerala around June 1.
