Govt to Establish Daycare Cancer Centres in All District Hospitals

The Indian government plans to invest ₹3,200 crore to establish daycare cancer centres in every district hospital over the next three years, as announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the 2025 Budget. By 2025-26, two hundred centres are expected to be operational. These centres are designed to enhance access to chemotherapy and other treatments, alleviating the pressure on metropolitan hospitals and making it easier for rural patients to receive care. While experts acknowledge challenges such as staffing and infrastructure, they view this initiative as a significant advancement in making cancer care more accessible.
