Half a Million and Counting: Skoda Auto Volkswagen's Engine Milestone in India

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has achieved a landmark milestone by producing its 500,000th engine from its Maharashtra plant at Chakan. The company's achievement emphasizes its dedication to localization and innovation in India. The Chakan plant, which began operations in 2009, is one of the company's strategic production bases for both domestic and international markets. It produces mostly the 1.0-liter TSI turbo petrol engine that is used to power vehicles such as the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Slavia. The plant's capacity is about 189,000 vehicles every year, playing a part in India's status as a production and export hub for the Volkswagen Group. This achievement is in line with the company's vision for India in its India 2.0 strategy.
