Through most of Sunday, Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) will feel more like a pressure cooker than a rain-washed coast. Temperatures are expected to hover in the mid-30s, humidity will stay high, and any relief, if it comes at all, is likely to be short, sharp and patchy.

For May 31, IMD’s Mumbai centre has predicted a partly cloudy sky with hot and humid conditions dominating the day. Maximum temperature is expected to be around 34–35°C, with the minimum near 29°C, but the “feels like” temperature could be closer to the low 40s because of moisture-laden air. There is a possibility of light rain or thundershowers over the city and suburbs towards evening or night, but these would be localised bursts rather than a widespread spell.

What IMD Says For Thane, Raigad And Palghar

The larger Konkan belt is under a yellow alert that focuses more on heat and humidity than heavy rain. For Thane and Raigad, IMD bulletins flag the chance of light rain or thundershowers in the afternoon or evening, accompanied in some pockets by lightning and gusty winds around 30–40 kmph. Palghar and Mumbai, meanwhile, are expected to stay largely dry or see only very light, isolated showers, with proper pre-monsoon rainfall for the region more likely in the first week of June than today.
