India, UAE Deepen Energy And Maritime Ties With New Pacts

India’s foreign ministry has announced two key agreements with UAE based entities, covering ship repair infrastructure and long term LPG supply security. An MoU between Cochin Shipyard and Drydocks World, Dubai will enable a ship repair cluster at Vadinar, while a long term LPG arrangement has been inked between Indian Oil Corp and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

The announcements highlight how India is pairing energy security with maritime capability building as trade volumes and seaborne traffic through its western coast expand. For markets and industry, the twin pacts signal policy continuity on diversifying energy sources while upgrading logistics and repair infrastructure to support larger fleets.

Ship Repair Cluster At Vadinar

The memorandum of understanding between Cochin Shipyard and Drydocks World, Dubai seeks to develop a ship repair cluster at Vadinar on India’s western seaboard. The initiative can help decongest existing facilities, attract more repair and maintenance work that currently goes overseas and create a local ecosystem of maritime services and skilled jobs.

Long Term LPG Supply Arrangement

Separately, Indian Oil Corporation has entered into a long term LPG supply arrangement with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company. The partnership strengthens India’s cooking gas security, supports government priorities on clean household fuel and offers IOC better visibility on volumes and pricing in a critical import segment.
