India, UK to Resume FTA Talks on February 24

India and the UK are set to restart negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on February 24, 2025, after an eight-month pause. UK's Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds will visit India for the talks, meeting with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. The discussions aim to bridge gaps and expedite the trade deal, covering areas such as customs duties, services, and bilateral investments. Key issues include worker mobility, tariff reductions on Scotch whisky, and market access for various goods. The resumption of talks follows 13 completed rounds of negotiations and a pause due to UK elections in May 2024.
