India’s V.D. Chafekar Appointed as ReCAAP ISC’s 7th Executive Director, Strengthening Global Maritime Security

Former Indian Coast Guard Additional Director General V.D. Chafekar has been named the seventh Executive Director of the ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ISC). His three-year tenure starts on April 1, 2025, and ends on March 31, 2028. Chafekar's appointment was finalized at the 19th Governing Council Meeting in Singapore, which was a strong step towards India's pledge to regional maritime security. The council also elected the new chairperson for a three-year term in Admiral Ronnie L. Gavan of the Philippines. The session was witnessed by 21 ReCAAP Contracting Party representatives, highlighting the significance of global cooperation in the fight against piracy and armed robbery on the high seas.
