Iran Takes Lead in Disaster Management: Elected Chair of APDIM Governing Council

In a significant development for regional disaster preparedness, Iran has been elected as the new Chair of the Governing Council of the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM). This decision was made during the Ninth Session of the Governing Council held in Tehran on January 22, 2025. The election marks Iran's increased role in strengthening disaster information management across the Asia-Pacific region. India was also elected as Vice-Chair for the upcoming term. This leadership change is expected to bolster APDIM's efforts in supporting resilience-building initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
