In a landmark move for India’s maritime sector, Cochin Shipyard Limited has signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. Ltd, one of the world’s largest shipbuilders. The agreement, formalized in Kochi in July 2025, sets the stage for long-term collaboration in shipbuilding, marine engineering, and workforce development. As part of this strategic partnership, a state-of-the-art block fabrication facility is planned at Kochi, with an annual capacity of 120,000 metric tonnes and an investment commitment of approximately Rs 37 billion.
