The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations across the city and its suburbs. The alert, valid through Saturday, comes amid a revival of monsoon activity and is expected to bring thunderstorms, gusty winds, and potential waterlogging in low-lying areas.

- The IMD has predicted rainfall intensity to increase through the day, especially during late afternoon and evening hours  
- Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 50–60 kmph are likely in isolated pockets  
- Rainfall recorded between 8:00 am on June 13 and 8:00 am on June 14:  
  - City: 19 mm  
  - Eastern suburbs: 4 mm  
  - Western suburbs: 5 mm  

Tide Conditions And Flood Risk  
- A high tide of 4.31 meters is expected at 2:14 pm on June 14, coinciding with peak rainfall hours  
- A low tide of 1.94 meters will follow at 8:14 pm  
- On June 15, the next high tide is forecast at 1:53 am (3.64 meters), with a low tide at 7:39 am (0.85 meters)  
- The overlap of high tide and heavy rain raises the risk of waterlogging in flood-prone areas  

Extended Forecast And Monsoon Outlook  
- The IMD has issued a yellow alert for June 15 and 16, indicating continued rainfall with reduced intensity  
- The monsoon, which arrived in Mumbai on May 26—16 days ahead of schedule—is expected to remain active over the next four to five days  
- Above-normal rainfall is forecast across most of India’s monsoon core zone from June to September, except in parts of Northwest, East, and Northeast India  

Precautionary Measures  
- Citizens are advised to avoid waterlogged areas and stay indoors during thunderstorms  
- Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea due to rough conditions  
- Municipal authorities are on alert to manage drainage and emergency response
