Commuters in Bengaluru will soon have easy access to Amul’s dairy products at metro stations, thanks to a new agreement between Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF). The partnership will bring Amul kiosks to 10 metro stations, offering a range of dairy items, chocolates, snacks, and organic products.

The selected metro stations include Pattandur Agrahara, Indiranagar, Benniganahalli, Baiyappanahalli, Trinity, Sir M Visvesvaraya, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic), National College, Jayanagar, and Banashankari. The initiative aims to enhance commuter convenience by providing access to trusted dairy products within metro premises.

This move comes after political debates surrounding Amul’s entry into Karnataka’s dairy market, with concerns over its impact on local brands like Nandini. Despite initial opposition, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has expanded its footprint in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, countering Amul’s growing presence.

BMRCL is also working to maximize non-fare revenue through retail outlets, advertisements, and semi-naming rights. The metro corporation recently hiked fares by up to 71%, making additional revenue streams crucial for financial sustainability.
With Amul kiosks set to roll out soon, metro passengers can look forward to quick access to dairy essentials, making their daily commute more convenient.
