BHEL announced the receipt of a major order worth approximately ₹5,400 crore from Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL), a joint venture between Coal India Ltd (51%) and BHEL (49%). The order, awarded on January 8, 2026, pertains to the Coal Gasification & Raw Syngas Cleaning Plant (LSTK-1 Package) for BCGCL’s Coal-to-Ammonium Nitrate project at Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda district, Odisha.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, equipment supply, civil works, erection, commissioning, and five years of operations and maintenance services. Preliminary acceptance, including commissioning and performance guarantee tests, is scheduled within 42 months of the LOA.
This order highlights BHEL’s growing role in clean energy and industrial chemical projects, aligning with India’s push for coal gasification to reduce import dependence and enhance domestic value addition.
