Offenders will face fines ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 25,000 for violations including spitting, littering, failing to segregate waste, and unauthorized garbage or debris transportation.
In a decisive move to strengthen Mumbai’s cleanliness and sanitation framework, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has rolled out stringent enforcement measures under the newly notified Solid Waste (Management and Handling), Cleanliness and Sanitation Bylaws 2025. The civic body aims to curb public nuisance and improve waste management practices across residential, commercial, and public spaces.
