Energizing Leadership: Reliance Taps HR Dynamo Biswaroop Mukherjee for Battery Business Boom

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has appointed Biswaroop Mukherjee as the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) of its fast-expanding Battery Business with effect from July 2025. This top leadership appointment is consistent with Reliance's vision to fast-forward its plans in the battery manufacturing and energy storage business along with India's vision to pursue clean energy and electric mobility.
 
Mukherjee has more than two decades of global HR leadership experience working for leading industries such as automotive, energy, pharmaceuticals, and consulting. Prior to Reliance, he was at Aker Solutions for a short period as Vice President – People and Transformation, and was earlier the Head of HR for Tata Motors' $7 billion Commercial Vehicle Business Unit. His professional experience also includes senior HR positions at GE Power, Deloitte, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, and ABP News Network.
 
Mukherjee will oversee talent hiring, leadership development, and culture transformation for Reliance as the company ramps up battery manufacturing capacity to take advantage of surging demand from the automotive and renewable energy sectors. His background in managing large-scale HR operations and transformation initiatives will be of utmost value as Reliance aims to become a global leader in the battery value chain.
