The Ram Temple in Ayodhya reached another significant milestone on June 5, 2025, with the consecration of the idol of ‘Raja Ram’—Lord Ram in his royal form—on the temple’s first floor, bringing this grand project closer to its completion. The event, which coincided with Ganga Dussehra, attracted a crowd of devotees and dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who led the rituals alongside 101 high priests amidst Vedic chants and elaborate ceremonies.
Key Highlights
• A stunning five-foot white marble idol of Raja Ram was installed and consecrated in front of a select group of guests and temple trustees, while thousands of devotees gathered outside, joyfully chanting and celebrating.
• The Ram Darbar, showcasing idols of Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan, and Hanuman, was also inaugurated, along with seven other temples within the complex.
• The ceremony featured the adornment of the idols with gold, silver, and precious stones, generously donated by philanthropists, and took place during the auspicious ‘Abhijeet Muhurat’.
• Security was ramped up in Ayodhya, with the temple complex designated as a red zone and round-the-clock surveillance implemented.
• This event follows the first consecration of Ram Lalla in January 2024, a landmark occasion attended by Prime Minister Modi and other prominent national figures.
Outlook
With the second phase of consecration now complete, the Ram Temple stands as a powerful symbol of cultural and religious resurgence. The final construction and rituals are expected to wrap up soon, setting the stage for an influx of pilgrims and Ayodhya’s rise as a global spiritual destination.
