Google launched its powerful AI Mode in India, its first outside the US, for its most powerful AI-driven search experience. AI Mode thus far had only been available in the US, and now English-speaking Indians can access it through Search Labs with a fresh wave of interactive, multimodal search driven by Gemini 2.5.

Key Highlights:

Smarter, Contextual Responses: AI Mode deconstructs difficult questions into subtopics, poses multiple questions at once, and provides detailed, step-by-step responses with source links.

Multimodal Input: Users are able to search with text, voice, or images (with Google Lens), enabling more comprehensive, more natural search experiences.

More Elaborate, Longer Searches: India's early adopters are conducting searches 2–3 times longer than normal searches, ideal for planning, comparing, and in-depth information.

Real-Time Data: The system receives input from emerging data sources, such as the Knowledge Graph and real-time shopping data, to provide real-time answers.

Easy Access: On the Google app (Android/iOS) and web, with a new shortcut in the Search bar and as a filter on the results page.

Prospects: With AI Mode, Google will transform Indian searching—enabling more meaningful, conversational experiences and new possibilities in education, commerce, and problem-solving in everyday life. More Indian languages will be enabled in future releases as user feedback informs the next wave of AI-powered search
