GMR Airports Ltd clocked a significant milestone in May 2025, handling over 1 crore (10 million) passengers across its airport network—a modest 0.8% year-on-year growth, despite geopolitical turbulence and operational constraints.
Hyderabad International Airport emerged as the star performer, recording its highest-ever monthly traffic at 2.8 million passengers, a robust 15.3% YoY surge. The growth was fueled by expanded terminal capacity, new international routes, and increased airline operations. Meanwhile, Delhi Airport, GMR’s flagship hub, managed 6.2 million passengers, down 4.5% YoY, impacted by temporary airspace restrictions linked to the Iran-Israel conflict.
The group’s international traffic rose 2.9%, while domestic traffic remained flat at 0.1% growth. Aircraft movements across the GMR network climbed 6.3% YoY, totaling 64,931 flights, reflecting improved connectivity and cargo operations.
Operational highlights included the launch of new global routes from Hyderabad and Delhi, enhancements in cargo logistics, and a continued push toward sustainability. Hyderabad’s terminal expansion earned LEED Platinum certification, while Mopa and Delhi airports rolled out solar and waste management initiatives.
Despite external challenges, GMR’s performance signals a resilient start to FY26, with Hyderabad leading the charge and newer airports like Mopa gaining traction in international segments.
