India And Namibia Forge Partnership On Election Management To Strengthen Global Democratic Cooperation

At the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management 2026, India and Namibia formalized a landmark MoU aimed at enhancing collaboration in electoral practices. The agreement was signed by Gyanesh Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner of India, and Elsie T Nghikembua, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Namibia.  

The MoU emphasizes capacity building, training programs, and knowledge exchange to improve the efficiency and transparency of election management. Namibia’s electoral chief highlighted the importance of partnering with the world’s largest democracy, noting that the collaboration would benefit Namibian officials through training and exposure to India’s robust electoral systems.  

This partnership also underscores India’s growing role as a hub for global democratic dialogue, with IICDEM 2026 hosting representatives from over 70 nations to share best practices and innovations in election management.
