Real Madrid fans hoping to see Kylian Mbappé dazzle on the field in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be waiting a little longer. The French ace has been unavailable for selection for the Group H fixture with Mexico's Pachuca, the club has confirmed.
Mbappé, who missed Madrid's first 1-1 draw against Al Hilal, was also hospitalized recently in Miami for acute gastroenteritis. Though he was released subsequently, he has not returned to training yet and was not part of the team travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, where the match will be held at Bank of America Stadium.
Coach Xabi Alonso confirmed that while Mbappé is "feeling better," the club is taking a watchful eye on his recovery and hopes he will be back in the last group game against RB Salzburg later in the week.
In his absence, scorer in the previous match Gonzalo García must spearhead again, with Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo. Five-time Club World Cup champions Real Madrid are on their heels to win after their first-ever draw, and Pachuca must also seek redemption for losing 2-1 to Salzburg.
