Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a titan in India’s engineering and construction sector, has clinched a significant order for its Heavy Civil Infrastructure business, further cementing its leadership in large-scale infrastructure. The company announced on June 9, 2025, that it has secured a contract valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore from JSW Energy for the execution of the 1,500 MW Bhavali Pumped Storage Project in Maharashtra.

Key Highlights:
  • Strategic Win: The project, spanning the Nashik and Thane districts, involves comprehensive civil works, including the construction of approach roads, upper and lower reservoirs, water conductor systems, pressure tunnels, and an underground powerhouse.
  • Renewable Energy Boost: The Bhavali Pumped Storage Project will play a critical role in stabilizing the electricity grid as India ramps up integration of renewable energy sources like solar and wind. Pumped storage is essential for balancing supply and demand in a grid increasingly powered by intermittent renewables.
  • Industry Impact: This win reinforces L&T’s reputation for delivering complex hydroelectric infrastructure and aligns with India’s broader push for energy security and sustainability.
  • Financial Momentum: L&T’s robust order book continues to grow, with this contract expected to bolster its performance in the heavy civil infrastructure segment. The company recently reported a 25% year-on-year growth in consolidated net profit, underlining its strong market position.
  • Market Reaction: Following the announcement, L&T shares saw a modest uptick, reflecting investor confidence in the company’s execution capabilities and future prospects.
With this major win, L&T remains at the forefront of India’s infrastructure and renewable energy transformation.
