Bengaluru’s upgraded emergency helpline ‘Namma 112’ received 5,22,742 calls in 2025, marking an increase of over 80,000 service requests compared to 2024. The system, part of the Bangalore Safe City Project, has enhanced response times, improved accountability, and boosted citizen safety, with significant calls related to women’s safety, accidents, and crime prevention.
The ‘Namma 112’ helpline, Bengaluru’s integrated emergency response number, has emerged as a vital public safety tool, handling 5.22 lakh calls in 2025. Managed by the Bengaluru City Police (BCP), the helpline connects callers to a central command center, which immediately alerts the nearest Hoysala patrol unit for rapid response.
Officials highlighted that the surge in calls reflects growing public trust in the system. Notably, 1.16 lakh calls came from women, underscoring its role in addressing safety concerns. Despite the rise in emergency reporting, Bengaluru recorded a 9% reduction in crime cases, showcasing the effectiveness of technology-driven policing.
The initiative, supported by the Union government’s Nirbhaya Fund, has introduced advanced features such as dashboard and body cameras in patrol vehicles, ensuring transparency and accountability.
