The Delhi -Ghaziabad -Meerut Namo Bharat trains are rolling out some truly innovative features aimed at enhancing the passenger experience, setting a fresh standard for urban rail travel in India. Among the latest upgrades is the country’s first-ever ‘passenger control mode’ for train doors, along with advanced HVAC systems in the coaches, ensuring a cooler, cleaner, and more energy-efficient ride for the thousands of commuters who rely on this service every day.

Key Highlights
  • Passenger-Controlled Doors:For the first time in India, Namo Bharat trains have introduced a ‘passenger control mode’—where doors only open when a commuter presses a button. This smart system helps keep the cool air inside the coaches, significantly reducing energy loss and boosting comfort, especially during the scorching summers in North India.
  • Smart HVAC System:Every coach comes equipped with two high-capacity Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units. These units maintain a comfortable internal temperature of around 25°C, automatically adjusting to the changing seasons—be it summer, winter, or monsoon. Regular maintenance ensures that cooling remains uninterrupted, with filters being cleaned frequently for peak performance.
  • Energy Efficiency:By cutting down on unnecessary door openings, this new system greatly lowers energy consumption. This innovation is in line with the corridor’s dedication to eco-friendly operations and sustainable urban mobility.
  • Enhanced Passenger Experience:The climate-controlled environment is a real game-changer for students, office workers, women, and senior citizens, providing a welcome escape from heat, dust, and pollution. Premium station lounges are equipped with large fans, and commuters can enjoy clean, purified drinking water at no charge.
  • Operational Updates:These semi-high-speed trains currently operate on a 55-km route from New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) to Meerut South, stopping at 11 stations along the way. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is on track to complete the full corridor, including the final stretch to Modipuram, later this year.

These innovations not only redefine comfort and efficiency for daily travelers but also mark a significant step forward in India’s urban transport modernization drive.
