Oyo's £50M UK Expansion: A Game-Changer for Premium Hospitality

Oyo, global hospitality technology major, has made a significant investment in the United Kingdom of £50 million for the next three years. The strategic investment will be in building its portfolio of mid-scale hotels, a change towards catering to upscale travelers. The investment will create 1,000 direct and indirect jobs and give a boost to the UK hospitality sector.

Oyo has constructed a strong foundation with more than 200 hotels in 65 cities after foraying into the UK market in 2018. Oyo now wishes to expand its high-end business by acquiring long-term leasehold agreements and management contracts. Oyo also wishes to bring popular European chains such as Oyo Townhouse and Collection O to the UK market in order to diversify its product base.

Puneet Yadav, Country Head of Oyo UK, noted that this expansion is aligned with the change in tourist behavior and benefits the UK's tourism ecosystem. The company is also in final stages of talks with big hotel chains and real estate players for asset management agreements.

This step further reaffirms Oyo's drive for expansion and innovation as it consolidates its beachheads in one of its major foreign markets.
