Sensex Drops Over 200 Points, Nifty Below 23,500 as Trump Tariff Threats Loom

Indian stock markets opened in the red on Monday, February 10, 2025, as global markets reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump's renewed tariff threats. At 9:20 am IST, the BSE Sensex was down 302.65 points (0.39%) at 77,557.54, while the NSE Nifty fell 98.80 points (0.42%) to 23,461.15.

Metal stocks were the worst hit, with the Nifty Metal index dropping 1.97%. Tata Steel Ltd fell 2.68%, leading the Sensex losers.

 Only 5 out of 30 Sensex stocks were in the green, with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd gaining 1.57%1.The market's negative sentiment was further fueled by foreign investors' continued selling of Indian equities.
