An advanced Regional Transport Office is coming up in Ahmedabad with a new AI based driving test track aimed at making licence tests more transparent and efficient. Equipped with cameras, sensors and automated scoring, the facility will reduce human interference, speed up test processing and support Gujarat’s broader road safety and digitisation push.
Ahmedabad is set to become a key node in Gujarat’s next generation transport infrastructure with an upgraded RTO complex that includes an AI enabled testing track. The upcoming facility will replace ageing, dispute prone tracks that relied heavily on manual assessment. Authorities say the move will modernise licence testing and offer a smoother experience for applicants.
What The New Advanced Rto Will Offer
The advanced RTO office in Ahmedabad will feature an AI based automated driving test track designed to evaluate two wheeler and four wheeler applicants in real time.
Multiple high resolution cameras and embedded sensors along the track will monitor tasks such as lane discipline, stopping at lines, turns and parking, replacing subjective on board assessment with consistent, rules based scoring.
How The Ai Testing System Works
Under the new system, candidates will be recorded at key points during the test, with AI software analysing their performance against predefined traffic rules and driving parameters.
Test outcomes will be generated automatically and transmitted to a central data server, with officials in other Gujarat RTOs already piloting instant pass fail messages to applicants’ mobile phones after the test.
Why Ahmedabad Is Getting The Upgrade
Transport officials have flagged older RFID based tracks and fully manual systems for producing inconsistent results and frequent disputes between candidates and examiners.
The AI powered track is expected to reduce errors, minimise direct human interference, provide audit trails through stored video and images and ensure that genuine driving skill, rather than subjectivity, determines licence outcomes.
Part Of Gujarat’s Wider Mobility Tech Push
The Ahmedabad upgrade is part of a larger Gujarat programme to install over 40 AI based automated driving test systems across 37 RTO offices, with early implementations in towns like Modasa, Lunawada, Chhota Udepur and Nadiad.
The initiative complements other AI driven mobility projects in and around Ahmedabad, including adaptive traffic control systems at key junctions, signalling a broader state focus on technology for safer and smoother transport.
