Earlier renowned for local varieties like Banganpalli, Kesari, and Himayat, farmers in Jagtial began experimenting with saplings of Miyazaki from California three years ago in anticipation of better returns as local mango prices were in a slump. The experiment has borne fruit: this time, the first fruits of Miyazaki—the each weighing about half a kilogram—have matured. Local as well as international interest is being generated.

The Miyazaki boasts of its distinctive taste, stunning color, and high nutrient content, which boasts high concentrations of antioxidants and vitamins A, C, E, and K. Due to its scarcity and careful cultivation, it has become a premium fruit among global fruit connoisseurs.

District horticulture officers confirm that the variety has also performed well in the local climate, a harbinger of good things ahead. But farmers are urging the government to speed up the establishment of Jagtial's notified export zone and secure a Geographical Indication (GI) tag to enhance international awareness and export price.
