The AI Skeptic: Narayana Murthy Calls Out the Hype

Narayana Murthy, Infosys co-founder, has lashed out at the AI craze in India, terming most so-called AI solutions as "silly old programming." Addressing TiE Con Mumbai 2025, Murthy was skeptical about the phenomenon of exaggerating simple software as AI. He asserted that genuine AI is about machine learning and deep learning, and deep learning has the ability to replicate human behavior using unsupervised algorithms. Murthy explained that while AI can induce job loss, it has the potential to produce new opportunities if properly used. His words underscore the importance of clarity and sincerity in AI development, challenging businesses to pursue real innovation instead of leaning on buzzwords.
