Travel Smart, Travel Free: How Delhi’s Pink Saheli Card is Revolutionizing Commuting

In a progressive move to make public transport more accessible and safe, the Delhi government launched the ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’ on November 2, 2025. Announced by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, this smart card offers free and convenient bus travel for all women and transgender commuters aged 12 years or older across the city.

The personalised smart card, under the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) framework, carries the holder’s name and photograph. It will facilitate unlimited free rides on DTC and cluster buses and can be recharged for use on other transport modes. Applicants must be bona fide Delhi residents with valid ID proof and can register online through the official Delhi government portal or at designated DTC counters.

This initiative is a significant step towards empowering women, reducing travel costs, encouraging public transport use, and fostering gender inclusivity. It replaces older paper tickets with a modern digital solution providing enhanced convenience and security while helping reduce traffic congestion and pollution.
