Unlocking Innovation: Open Science Cloud Empowers Global Research Community

A pioneering effort to break down barriers in international scientific research was announced today with the opening of the Open Science Cloud 2.0, a federated platform that combines AI-based tools, real-time data sharing, and peer-review processes. Supported by CERN, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), and 50+ global institutions, the platform will offer free access to 20 petabytes of curated data, from genomics to climate models, with built-in ethical AI for bias detection.

Key features are:

Federated Machine Learning: Train algorithms on global datasets without data transfers.

Automated Peer Review: AI-powered manuscript review to reduce publication lag.

EthicsGuard: Blockchain-based compliance monitoring for sensitive research.

NASA, ESA, and JAXA have already pledged satellite data streams. UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay welcomed it as "the Wikipedia moment for science," saying it was in line with the FAIR+ Principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable + Ethics).

Initial trials realized 40% cut in redundancy in research. The platform goes public in Q3 2025.
